We open your ERP, CRM and databases to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini as controlled, logged and secure tools.

Your teams already use ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini every day, yet none of these models can see your stock levels, open orders or a customer’s balance. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that closes that gap by describing company systems as “tools” AI applications understand. We design and run those tools so it is clear from day one who can read and change what.

The focus here is not an assistant or a chat screen but infrastructure: the layer that decides through which door, and with which key, AI reaches company data. We use the same layer to integrate LLM APIs into your existing product, adding features such as summarisation, classification or natural-language querying together with permissions, logging, quotas and cost control.

  • 01Companies that want staff to reach company data safely from ChatGPT or Claude.
  • 02IT teams that want to expose ERP, CRM and database data through one controlled door instead of scattered copies.
  • 03Software and SaaS companies that want to add LLM features to their own product.
  • 04Platforms that want to publish an MCP server so their customers can connect from AI tools.
  • 05Organisations building a shared, reusable tool layer for their internal AI agents.
  • 06Regulated sectors that must audit, log and track the cost of AI usage.

What is MCP (Model Context Protocol) and why do companies care?

Put simply, MCP is a common plug standard for AI applications. Connecting ChatGPT to one system and Claude to another used to mean writing a separate integration for each. With MCP you describe your company systems once, in a standard language, and every AI client that supports the standard can use the same tools. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, developer tools and agents you build yourself are all examples of such clients.

An MCP server tells the model: these tools exist, they take these inputs and return this. “Get customer balance”, “list open orders” or “create a draft quote” are each a tool. The model decides which tool to call based on the user’s question; the server checks whether the call is authorised, carries it out and returns the result.

For companies, the real value is that control stays with you. Data is not copied wholesale to the AI provider; only what is needed is shared, only when an authorised call arrives, and every access is recorded.

How is an MCP server built and connected to ERP and CRM?

An MCP server is a thin layer that sits in front of your existing systems. Behind it, it connects to ERPs such as Logo, Mikro, Netsis, SAP Business One or Nebim, to your CRM, to PostgreSQL or SQL Server databases, to document stores in Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, and to your internal APIs. In front, it offers AI clients the standard MCP interface. In most cases your systems themselves do not need to change.

The hard part is not the code but the tool design. Opening a database as it is and saying “run any query you like” is both unsafe and inefficient. Instead we define narrow tools close to business language, each with set return fields, a record limit and accepted filters. We write their descriptions clearly enough for the model to pick the right tool.

We usually write the server in TypeScript or Python and run it on managed infrastructure such as Cloudflare Workers or on your own servers. For data that must stay in-house, a setup running inside your company network is also possible.

Permissions, audit logs and security: which doors should AI get?

Our core principle is that the model can never see or do more than the user can. When a sales rep asks a question through Claude, the MCP server acts under that person’s identity and returns only the customers they can see in the CRM. We build this on OAuth-based authentication and the role structure already in your systems rather than inventing a separate permission world.

We separate read and write scopes strictly. The first release usually ships with read tools only. Write tools, meaning creating or updating records, are enabled under a separate permission; hard-to-reverse actions such as changing amounts or deleting records are either never exposed or require human approval.

Every call is written to an audit log with who, when, which tool and which parameters. Per-user and per-tool rate limits, personal data masking and alerts for unusual usage are a standard part of the setup.

LLM API integration: timelines, evaluation and common mistakes

When we add LLM integration to your existing product, we do not bury model calls directly in the code. We put a layer in between: prompts are versioned, the model provider stays swappable, cost is tracked per user and per feature, and fallback behaviour is defined for errors and latency. The layer works the same way with OpenAI, Anthropic and Google models. An MCP server with a handful of read-focused tools can be in use within a few weeks; the schedule grows as write tools and more systems are added.

The most common mistake is exposing every table as its own tool, leaving the model lost among dozens of similar options. The second is granting write access too early. The third is not measuring. A good setup has a test set built from real user questions; whether the model picks the right tool with the right parameters is re-measured after every change, and the audit logs are reviewed regularly.

Deliverables
  1. 01Custom MCP server for your company systems
  2. 02Tool catalogue with separate read and write scopes
  3. 03Authentication, per-user permissions and OAuth flow
  4. 04Audit log, rate limiting and cost tracking
  5. 05LLM API integration into your existing product
  6. 06Test set and evaluation report for tool accuracy

Security first, scope second

Authentication, per-user permissions, audit logging and rate limits arrive with the very first tool, not as an item for later. We draw the line between read and write together with you from the start.

Not tied to one client

Because it is built on an open standard, the server works with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and your own agents at once. Even if teams prefer different tools, there is one door to company data with shared rules and logs.

We run integrations in our own products

We build and operate Rocketly CRM ourselves, connected to systems such as Paraşüt, Nebim V3, QuickBooks and e-Fatura. We know the permission, quota and data consistency problems of business systems from daily operation.

Documented, transferable delivery

The tool catalogue, permission matrix, test set and operations guide are part of the handover. The source code is yours, and your own team can keep extending the server without starting from scratch.

01

Map systems and permissions

Together we pin down in one document which data from which system will be exposed, which role may see what, and which actions must stay closed.

02

Design the tools

Each tool gets a narrow, clear definition: a precise name, description, input schema and bounded output. Read tools come first, approved write tools after.

03

Build the security layer

Authentication, per-user permissions, rate limits, personal data masking and an audit record of every call are in place before the server goes live.

04

Evaluate and launch

We test with real questions whether models pick the right tools, then launch the server on managed infrastructure such as Cloudflare Workers with monitoring.

The quote depends mostly on how many systems will be connected and how mature their APIs are. A CRM with a ready API and a legacy ERP that only offers database access do not take the same effort. The number of tools, whether write actions are needed, per-user permission requirements, hosting preferences and audit expectations also shape the scope. We model the variable cost of model usage separately and transparently from expected volume. We usually recommend starting with one system and read-only tools.

Let’s talk about this
Related work

An MCP server is software that describes your company systems as tools AI applications can use. When you ask Claude “what are this customer’s open invoices?”, the model calls the relevant tool on the MCP server; the server checks your permissions, fetches the data from the ERP and returns it. Your data is not copied to the AI wholesale.

A classic API integration connects two pieces of software, and a developer codes which call happens when. MCP is a standard designed so an AI model can discover tools itself and choose among them as the situation requires. An MCP server is usually built on top of your existing APIs, so the two complement rather than replace each other.

Yes. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are clients that can connect to MCP servers. A server we build for an ERP such as Logo, Mikro, Netsis or SAP Business One works under the user’s identity and returns only authorised data. We clarify together which plan and admin settings are needed during setup.

Only if you allow it, and only as far as you allow it. We keep read and write scopes separate, and the first release is usually read-only. Write tools are enabled under a separate permission, critical actions require human approval and actions such as deletion are usually not exposed at all. Every call is audited.

It depends on the need. For servers accessed remotely, managed and scalable platforms such as Cloudflare Workers are a practical choice. Where data must not leave the company network, we run the server on your own infrastructure or in your cloud account. Your security policy and the location of the connected systems decide.

Compliance depends on the setup, not the protocol. We do not return personal data unless needed, mask it when we do, log access and document which data goes to which model provider in which region. We choose providers under enterprise terms that exclude training on your data, and review this with your legal team.

A single, well-defined feature, such as summarising or automatically classifying support tickets, can reach test users within a few weeks. What affects the timeline most is your application’s architecture, how scattered the data is and preparing the test set needed to measure quality. We firm up the schedule after the first discovery session.

MCP servers are client-agnostic and work with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other MCP-capable tools at the same time. For LLM features built into your product, we choose among OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and open-source models based on the task, language performance, cost and data terms, and keep the provider swappable.

An assistant is the interface the user talks to; an MCP server is the infrastructure through which assistants reach company systems. One MCP server can be shared by several assistants and agents. If you want your own assistant, our AI assistants and agents service fits; if you want to connect existing AI tools to company data, this one does.
